The 165th winner of the New St Leger, held on Saturday 6th September 1941 at Manchester, was Sun Castle, a bay colt by Hyperion out of Castle Gay, owned by the 1st Viscount Portal. A field of 16 runners contested the race which was worth £2,600 to the winner. (Equivalent to £133,600 in 2017)
